In fulfilling our mission, the Historical Society offers the region a variety of programs designed to highlight and celebrate our area’s rich history.
History of the Sport of Rowing
Sunday, May 19, 2013 - 1:00-4:00 (open) program at 3 P.M.
At the David Crawford Historic House, 189 Montogmery St., Newburgh NY 12550
Our next Sunday program is a lecture about the Hudson Valley's role in the legacy of the sport of rowing. After the lecture, there will be a chance to meet the Board of Directors, volunteers and member of the Orange County Rowing Association. Refreshments will also be served!
Among other treats of this season, the Historic Society is co-hosting a croquet tournament in Downing Park. In addition to the annual candlelight tour of homes, there will be a hiking and ecology tour along the Quassaick Creek. Distinguished speakers dot our calendar presenting fascinating information on Newburgh’s history. In June and July, join us at our programs to learn about the dynamics between historic leaders, such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Alexander Hamilton. Stay tuned to our website for information about our upcoming partnership with Mount Saint Mary’s College to present an exciting retrospective on the last fifty years in our city.
